It is pretty simple to convert a car to run on
LPG . All kits have a storage LPG tank, usually
fitted in the boot or underbody. The latest
technique is to use a doughnut tank in the spare
wheel well if possible. The gas is then fed through
a LPG line as a liquid, to the engine compartment.
It is then reduced in pressure and transformed into
a gas by a regulator and then metered into the inlet
manifold. When running on LPG the petrol injectors
are switched off. It is possible to run on LPG or
petrol via a changeover switch fitted on the
dashboard area, this system is called dual fuel.
 The more modern systems are now injecting LPG
directly into the intake manifold controlled via a
computer, similar to your modern petrol injectors.
This system gives the best possible economy rate.
