What To Do If Your Car Breaks Down
on the Highway
If possible carefully pull over to the side of the
road and turn on your hazard warning lights or if
your car is equipped with reflector triangles place
them on the road. Use your mobile phone - call for
help. Try
and keep safely beside your vehicle. It may be safer
to stay in the vehicle. Keep away from moving
highway traffic, remember cars will be traveling at
highway speeds. If you have your family
with you keep them safe from wandering. Leave and enter the vehicle by the left-hand door
and ensure all your passengers do the same. It is best to retreat up the bank, or behind a
barrier if this is possible. If you have a have a flat
tyre, be certain that you
can change it safely without being close to traffic.
If that is possible, change the tire as you normally
would. Remember, safety must take precedence over
your schedule. Remember having regular servicing can help prevent
